Liu Guowang Conducts Research and Guidance at Terris and Sinosteel Zimbabwe Chromium Industry

Recently, Sinosteel Group Chairman Liu Guowang led a delegation to conduct on-site research at Terris and Sinosteel Zimbabwe Chromium Industry, engaging in detailed discussions with local management teams. During the visit, Liu Guowang emphasized the importance of fully implementing China Baowu's expectations for Sinosteel's international operations, benchmarking against world-class enterprises, and taking the lead in executing Baowu's internationalization strategy by optimizing business strategies, innovating cooperation models and striving to become a model of Baowu's international development.

The delegation first visited Sinosteel Zimbabwe Chromium Industry's Kwekwe smelting plant to inspect the newly commissioned Furnace No. 7, reviewing smelting processes and production indicators, and participated in the ignition ceremony of Furnace No. 8 with the local foreign management team. They then proceeded to the central mining area, examining underground chromium ore distribution and studying mine capacity, investment scale, and extraction costs. Liu Guowang commended the company's recent achievements in equipment upgrading, improved site management, and overall performance. As the major shareholder, he affirmed Sinosteel's commitment to strengthening its minor metals resource industry, particularly the chromium business segment, and encouraged the local management team to maintain confidence in their partnership with Sinosteel for corporate operations. Regarding future work, Liu emphasized that sustainable development must balance economic benefits, employee growth, and community development. He stressed the importance of improving electric furnace efficiency under current conditions, promoting production expansion and ore export efficiency, enhancing the momentum for achieving production and business targets, and advancing solar power projects while ensuring stable power supply and cost control.

In South Africa, Liu Guowang visited Samancor and Sinosteel South Africa, where he engaged in detailed discussions about end-to-end cost control, talent retention policies, and asset management. He conducted an in-depth review and analysis of business synergies among joint venture companies. The delegation then visited production frontlines including the mine and smelter, conducting on-site inspections of production operations and commending the significant improvements in frontline management. After gaining detailed insights into Samancor's implementation of the "Four Modernizations," "Four Withs," and production efficiency requirements at the operational level, Liu Guowang stated that whether in deep mine shafts or coastal facilities, the company must continue to thoroughly implement Baowu's advanced concepts and Sinosteel's management requirements, and achieve "no blind spots from shore to shore." He emphasized the importance of unifying domestic and international employees through shared values and aligned goals, rallying collective strength to "sound the call to action from shore to shore." Liu Guowang also stressed encouraging employees to realize their value in their positions while fully mobilizing and inspiring a sense of ownership among foreign employees, creating an atmosphere of full engagement and participation to "emerge as leaders from shore to shore." Regarding future operations, Liu Guowang emphasized that production safety and efficiency improvement should be embedded in Samancor's DNA, with continuous optimization focusing on employee skill enhancement, equipment operation and maintenance, and stable production operations. He stressed the importance of approaching development from both economic efficiency and sustainability perspectives, achieving capacity replacement and enhancement through new mine development, coordinating the mining efficiency of underground and open-pit operations, optimizing resource allocation based on market demands, and enhancing core competitiveness and overall profitability. Liu Guowang also emphasized the need to continuously strengthen lean operations and safety management at production sites, optimize technological processes, improve production efficiency and quality, and further consolidate competitive advantages. He called for additional safety and environmental protection measures to create better working conditions and environments for employees.

Subsequently, Liu Guowang visited Samchrome in the UAE for research and guidance, and received briefings on the company's overall profile, business operations, and international marketing strategies. He commended the Chinese management team's positive results achieved through various operational measures implemented since Sinosteel's acquisition, and directed Samchrome to further enhance its market influence in international markets while improving management effectiveness in accounts receivable and inventory control and financing optimization.
