From September 19 to 20, the World Industrial and Commercial Organizations Summit was held in Beijing. Over 200 leading figures from the industrial and commercial associations and enterprises and diplomatic envoys from over 70 countries and regions worldwide, and more than 200 domestic representatives attended the summit. Mr Huang Tianwen attended the summit on invitation.

Mr Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr Schroeder, Prime Minister of Germany, and Mr Carlos Magariños, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), sent their letters of congratulations to the summit.
Mr Huang Ju, member of the standing committee of the CPC Political Bureau, Vice Premier of the State Council, the Honorary Chairman of this summit, met some of the representatives from home and abroad and attended the opening ceremony. On the summit, he delivered a public speech, titled: Deepening the Cooperation and Communication and Promoting Mutual Development. Ms Gu Xiulian, Vice Chairman of National People’s Congress, PRC, Honorary Chairman of China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE), and Mr. Kim Hak-Su, Vice Secretary-General of United Nations, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, attended the meeting and made speeches. Mr Xu Kuangdi, Vice Chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of CFIE and Chairman of CFIE WICO Summit made the keynote address.
