On the morning of August 25, Xu Siwei, President of Sinosteel Corporation, Chairman of Sinosteel Corporation Limited, and Liu Andong, Party Secretary of Sinosteel Corporation and General Manager of Sinosteel Corporation Limited, met with Australian Ambassador Ms Sun Fangan at Group headquarters.The two sides held friendly talks and communications. Gong Jingsheng, deputy general manager of Sinosteel Corporation Limited attended the meeting.
Australia is an important country for Sinosteel in mineral resources development and investment overseas. As a model for Sino-Australian economic and trade cooperation, the Qiana project showcases the efforts of leaders of the two countries in the past 20 years contributing a lot to deepening economic and trade exchanges between the two countries. Sinosteel will continue taking developing domestic and overseas mineral resources as its main business for transnational groups. The Australian market has good potential both in the development of iron ore and other mineral resources, and contracting of large projects and it will further cooperate for mutual benefit in Australia.
Ambassador Sun Fangan said Sinosteel is a typical representative of the bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as it always adheres to the concept of sustainable development, and establishes an image of responsible Chinese enterprise. Australia and China have a very close relationship in investment. The Australian Government is confident to stand together with and China to provide the best investment environment, the most competitive price and the maximum amount of resources for Chinese investors and to continue promoting the economic and trade cooperation in depth.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed issues of common concern and made extensive exchanges.
Ke Maigao, Senior trade commissioner of Australian Trade Commission and general manager of China, Jia Jieming, Australian Ambassador Counselor of Industry Department of Natural Resources and Energy, and Luo Mengli, Second Secretary of Economic Section also visited Sinosteel. Sinosteel office, Corporate Development Department of Sinosteel and responsible person of Dongyue Investment attended the meeting.
