In the morning of July 22nd, Chairman Huang Tianwen met with Western Australia Premier Mr. Colin Barnett, and Australian Ambassador to China Dr. Geoff Raby and their accompanying colleagues at Sinosteel headquarter, the two parties exchanged views for cooperation.
Chairman Huang firstly extended warm welcome to the delegation led by Hon. Premier Colin Barnett and Ambassador Dr. Geoff Raby, and expressed gratitude for their long-standing support and assistance. Chairman Huang stated that Sinosteel enjoys a more than 20 years’ investment experience in Australia, the cooperation of the two parties are beneficial for the win-win business development as well as the bilateral economic and trade relations. Sinosteel’s operation in Australia has been proceeding smoothly, promoting the development of local economy, employment and tax. Sinosteel is willing to further promote the cooperation with Western Australia, and believes that this visit would bring positive influence to the cooperation.
Western Australia Premier Colin Barnett stated that China is one of the most important partners of Australia, the development of mutual economic and trade cooperation is essential. Sinosteel enjoys a good reputation in Australia, and Western Australia government is willing to reinforce the project cooperation with Sinosteel, providing supports for investment and business development, to realize win-win development of the two parties.
The two parties also exchanged views on mineral resource development and infrastructure construction issues.
Prior to the meeting, the guests visited Sinosteel Exhibition Hall accompanied by Chairman Huang.
Secretary of the Cabinet & Chief of Staff of the Office of the Premier Ms. Deidre Willmott, Director General, Department of Premier and Cabinet Mr. Peter Conran, Regional Director, Western Australian Trade Office –China Mr. BJ Zhuang of Western Australia, and Director of the Division of American and Oceania Affairs, Department of International Cooperation of NDRC Ms. Fang Li also accompanied the visit.
Vice-president of Sinosteel Corporation Limited Mr. Jiang Hong and the GM of relevant functions of Sinosteel also attended the meeting.
