May 19th, “China - Brazil: New Opportunities in the Context of Strategic Partnership” seminar jointly sponsored by China State Development Bank and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Chairman Huang Tianwen of Sinosteel Corporation Limited attended the meeting and participated in related activities.
Brazilian President Lula, Vice-Premier of State Council Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the National Development Bank Chen Yuan, President of National Development Bank Jiang Chaoliang, and related officials and entrepreneurs all gathered together in this seminar, conducted detailed discussion on combating global financial crisis, promoting cooperation of economy and trade, science and technology, humanities, education etc.
President Lula stated that in recent years, China - Brazil strategic partnership has made significant development; the two sides have build up close cooperative relations in various fields. President Lula expressed his hope to reinforce high-level exchanges of the two counties, and the willingness to develop cooperation in promoting the joint development to combat the financial crisis.
Vice-Premier of State Council Zhang Dejiang expressed that since the establishment of strategic relations of China-Brazil, the two countries have entered into a new stage of comprehensive development. Both sides should grasp the opportunity to strengthen dialogue and comprehensive cooperation, to enhance the bilateral strategic partnership to a new level, not only of the two countries and the common interests of the peoples but also conducive to jointly cope with the international financial crisis, the promotion of economic and social development between the two countries. Zhang expressed the hope that China and Brazil shall take this seminar as an opportunity to expand cooperation fields, and effectively deepening the pragmatic cooperation to seek common development.
