October 15, 2009, the 17th Cross-Strait, Hong Kong, Macau Occupational Safety & Health Seminar & 50th Anniversary of the founding of Sinosteel Wuhan Safety & Environmental Protection Research Institute Co., Ltd. abbreviated as “Sinosteel Wuhan” were grandly held in Wuhan. Vice Director of State Administration of Work Safety Mr. Sun Huashan, Vice Governor of Hubei Provincial Government Mr. Duan Lunyi, Vice Mayor of Wuhan Municipal Government Ms. Liu Shunni and heads of China Occupational Safety & Health Association, China Safety & Hygiene Association Taiwan, Hong Kong Occupational Health Bureau, Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Hygiene Association, Macau Labor Bureau etc. attended the seminar and delivered speeches. Mr. Gong Jingsheng, Vice President of Sinosteel Corporation Limited attended the opening ceremony and made a speech.
Nearly 200 specialists and scholars from State Administration of Work Safety, large iron and steel companies such as Wisco, Shougang Group, institutions of higher education and research institutes covers regions of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan attended the conference.
On behalf on Chairman Huang and all staff of Sinosteel, Vice President Mr. Gong Jingsheng extended congratulations to Sinosteel Wuhan for its achievements in 50 years. He also greeted all executives and staff of Sinosteel Wuhan and warmly congratulated the opening of 17th Occupational Safety & Health Seminar. Vice President Mr. Gong briefly introduced Sinosteel in aspects of development, business performance and strategy. He expressed that while seeking a rapid development, Sinosteel would continuously shoulder the social responsibility of an SOE and support economic, environmental and social sustainable development in practical ways. He stressed that the topic of occupational safety & health, which in line with the ideology of “scientific mode of development”, had become a common concern within advanced enterprises and should be criteria for corporate philosophy and quality. Vice President Mr. Gong gave high remark on the joint holding of Occupational Safety & Health seminar by the two sides of Taiwan Straits, Hong Kong and Macau region. He conveyed best wished to the seminar and hoped that the participants may learn form each other and jointly exert for better management, innovative philosophy and advanced technology.
Before the conference, Vice President Mr. Gong met with WISCO GM Mr. Wang Ling and Shougang Group Vice GM Mr. Liu Shuiyang and discussed about a better cooperation and demand & supply relationship between companies.
The two-day seminar focused on subjects of common interest including occupational safety & health management, medium and small-scale enterprise safety & health, prevention of occupational diseases, occupational safety & health training, safety culture, emergency & aid etc. The conference displayed new theories, new technology and new methods in the field of occupational safety & health and would surely promote the course of occupational health. It is held annually in the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau in turn.
