On September 27, Xu Siwei, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group and Liu Andong, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of CPC met with the Australian Ambassador to China Fu Guanhan and his delegation at the headquarters, and both sides had cordial and friendly exchanges. The Group leader Gong Jingsheng attended the meeting.
Xu Siwei welcomed Australian Ambassador to China Fu Guanhan and his delegation to visit Sinosteel, and expressed his gratitude for the long-term support offered by the Australian Government to Sinosteel. First, he reviewed the cooperation between Sinosteel and Rio Tinto, and introduced the historic evolution and business structure of Sinosteel, especially the relevant information on the resource development projects in Australia. Xu Siwei stated that, the close economic and trade exchanges between China and Australia have benefited from the great attention paid by the leaders of the two countries, and as the first resource project of China-Australia joint venture, the Channar Iron Mine has created huge economic and social value in the economic and trade history of the two countries. Currently, the economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia is facing new opportunities, and the overseas resource development would also become a new engine for bilateral cooperation, and Sinosteel would like to work with Australia to promote greater development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Liu Andong stated that, the cooperation between Sinosteel and Rio Tinto has established a good relationship between China and Australia, and he hoped that both sides could realize a higher level and wider range of cultural exchange and trade exchanges under the promotion and support of the governments and enterprises of both countries, so as to promote the long-term mutual benefit and win-win results between the two countries.
Ambassador Fu Guanhan expressed his thanks to Sinosteel for its warm reception, and congratulated on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the new China on behalf of Australia. He said that, the iron mime was a strategic trade project between China and Australia, and Channar Iron Mine was of milestone significance in the development of economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia. He hoped that both states could continue to strengthen the exchange and cooperation, and Australia welcomed Chinese partners to invest and work in Australia. The embassy would further play a good role as a bridge to strengthen coordination and linkage in trade, economy, industry, innovation and science and technology, provide more help and support to Sinosteel, promote the cooperation in more projects, and make greater efforts to promote the common integration and friendly cooperation of related products between China and Australia.
Before the meeting, Liu Andong and Gong Jingsheng accompanied the guests to visit the exhibition hall of the Group.
Relevant personnel from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and Technology and Committee on Trade and Investment, and heads from Office of Sinosteel Group, Enterprise Development Department, Dongyue Investment Co., Ltd attended the meeting.
