CEO of Rio Tinto visited Sinosteel

Chairman of Sinosteel Corporation Xu Siweicalled for more cooperation between Sinosteel and Rio Tinto in meeting with CEO of Rio Tinto Jean-S Bastien Jacques in February 16, 2017. Rio Tinto executive president Simons as well as Ren Yanbin, president of Rio Tinto China and Sinosteel Corporation Ltd vice president Gong Jingsheng attended the meeting.

Xu extended his warm welcome to Mr. Jacques and his entourage and fully briefed the visitors in last year’s performance and future plan of Sinosteel, mainly focused on mineral resources, engineering equipment, new high-tech materials and other business sections. Xu underscored his expectation for more cooperation with Rio Tinto to advance mutual interest in the      Channar joint venture.

The Channar joint venture stands out as one of the most important deals not only for business, but for Australia’s economic ties with China. Now in its 30th year, it is one of the longest running and most successful partnerships between two nations.

Jacques detailed Rio Tinto’s successful experience and practice in lower cost-higher profit, marketing management and capital operation. Hestood outthe importance of sustaining significant long-term joint commercial activities for the benefit of all concerned.He also encouraged the establishment long-term mechanisms between two sides that will nurture new cooperation besides the Channer mining joint venture.

Before the meeting, they visited Sinosteel’s showroom accompanied by vice president Gong Jingsheng.Other principalsalso attended the meeting.
