The 2005 World Shipping (China) Summit Meeting was held on November 1 in Shanghai. With the theme of “China Factor - Challenge & Opportunities”, the participants from all circles discussed on the commonly concerned issues on 2006 international shipping market trend, especially the drastic fluctuations of the main container line, dry cargo or bulk cargo and oil tanker market; and also discussed on how to cope with the situation of the surge of international oil price, fluctuation of iron ore price, constant international trade conflicts and the consolidation and improvement of China’s internal macro-control measures.This summit is the largest and top-standard international grand event in the field of international shipping in recent years. Chinese Minister of Communications, Zhang Chunxian and Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. CISA consultant Wu Xichun deeply analyzed the influence of China’s iron ore production and raw material supply on international shipping market. Over 600 representatives from the industries of shipping, ports, shipbuilding and finance all over the world and internationally well-known experts and scholars attended the meeting.
Sinosteel vice president Dong Zhixiong led a delegation from Sinosteel Shipping to attend the meeting. They communicated with representatives from shipping industry and pots, introduced Sinosteel Corporation and Sinosteel Shipping Company to expand the influence of Sinosteel Shipping in shipping industry.
