Recently, the set up ceremony of Global Compact China Web Center was held in Beijing Ocean Plaza. Sinosteel, as one of the outstanding enterprise members of UN Global Compact, was invited to the meeting. The set up meeting announced that Sinosteel Corporation Sustainability African Report won the “Model Report” award of Global Compact China web center.
Since its establishment of 2001, UN Global Compact has been winning support from a broad rang of governments, enterprises and social communities of all countries. UN Global Compact has been bringing strong positive influence to the aspect of enterprises’ social responsibility. The number of Global Compact members has been climbing constantly, amounting to over 6000 enterprises in more than 130 countries.
Sinosteel has been given high respect to the high significance for enterprises to join the course of establishing sustainable development of global economy, and has been actively practicing the principles of Global Compact, promoting the establishment of enterprises’ social responsibility system. In recent years, Sinosteel published “Sinosteel Sustainability Report” and “Sinosteel Sustainability African Report”, systematically summarized Sinosteel’s sense of social responsibility and actual measures of practicing, which aroused great attention from all walks. Sinosteel Sustainability African Report is not only reveals Sinosteel’s overseas enterprises’ endeavors on social responsibility practicing, but also serves as a model for domestic enterprises in the course of social responsibility.
