On the afternoon of April 10, president of Sinosteel Corporation, Chairman of Sinosteel Corporation Limited, Xu Siwei met the delegation led by Mr. Mutswangwa Andrew White, a parliamentarian and the Foreign Minister of Zimbabwe. Both sides carried out communication as for the operation of Sinosteel’s subsidiaries in Zimbabwe and its relevant projects development as well as other issues. Gong Jingsheng, deputy general manager ofinosteel Corporation Limited attended the meeting.
Firstly, president Xu expressed his welcome to the guests for their visit to Sinosteel, and showed his thanks to minister Mutswangwa for his contribution to the promotion of enterprises and economic and trade exchange between China and Zimbabwe. Xu briefed the main business of Sinosteel to the guests, especially the exploitation of overseas mineral resources, and exchanged and communicated frankly with minister Mutswangwa on the issues of common concerns. Xu expressed that Zimasco Consolidated Enterprises Ltd. is a joint production enterprise integrating mining and smelting business, which is in line with the industrial policy of Zimbabwe in deep processing of resources. Facing the depression of current market of international ferrochrome industry, Sinosteel shall take multi measures such as improvement of own operation and optimization of technical process etc and make every possible effort to maintain the normal production and operation, for the purpose of ensure local staff employment, making contribution to the economic development and social stability of Zimbabwe. He also hoped that Zimbabwe government can provide support and help for enterprise operation and development of some relevant projects, boosting the healthy development of enterprises through joint efforts of both sides.
Mutswangwa expressed his thanks to Sinosteel’s contribution in the promotion of economic development of Zimbabwe, and hoped Sinosteel to further strengthen the supports for Sinosteel’s subsidiaries in Zimbabwe; he said, Zimbabwean government would attach great importance to the development of Zimasco Consolidated Enterprises Ltd., understood and would highly focused on the market environment and pressure of business development faced currently by the company, and would actively coordinate relevant government departments to help promote related work.
Prior to the talks, deputy general manager Gong Jingsheng accompanied the guests to visit the exhibition hall of Sinosteel.
