On June 28, Sinosteel Corporation (Sinosteel) and Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corp. (WISCO) signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Sinosteel president Huang Tianwen and WISCO general manager Deng Qilin signed on the agreement on behalf of each party.
WISCO is a well-known large iron and steel group corporation with nearly 50 years’ glorious history. It is our national key steel production base with the comprehensive production capability of 20 million tons. Now it has become a large multi-industry enterprise mainly engaged in iron & steel, engineering technology and international trade. Now, WISCO is stepping forward towards the aim of an advanced iron & steel group corporation with the importance attached to science & technology and quality & benefit.
As another state-owned steel company, Sinosteel has kept extensive, close and friendly business cooperation relationship with WISCO for a long time. As early as planned economy period, as state industrial companies, Sinosteel and its subsidiaries has provided a lot of specialized service for WISCO construction and development; having entered market economy period, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, the two parties cooperate on raw materials & accessory materials, engineering equipment, technical service and steel product trade. Especially in recent years, with the rapid development of the national steel industry and the acceleration of steel industrial structure modulation, the business between the two parties has stepped into a new phase and is now facing a new developing opportunity.
WISCO is Sinosteel’s key customer while Sinosteel is also WISCO’s important specialized service provider and production agent. Sinosteel’s specialized companies, overseas branches, production companies and research institutes provide complete set of systematic integration service for all the links in WISCO production chain. The establishment of strategic cooperation partnership will effectively exert each other’s advantages and further consolidate extensive, all-round and deep cooperation to make up each other’s shortcomings, realize win-win and contribute to the sustainable, harmonious and healthy development of our national steel industry.

After the signing ceremony, accompanied by WISCO GM Deng Qilin, president Huang Tianwen and the delegation also visited relative WISCO plants.
