On May 1, the world’s longest cross-sea bridge was opened in the middle of the bridge, which as part of China’s efforts to boost economic integration and development in the Yangtze River Delta. Sinosteel takes part in the infrastructure construction in Hangzhou Bay Bridge, which is the secondly largest shareholder, owned 25.62%, President Huang Tianwen attended the opening ceremony on invitation.Before the opening ceremory, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited on-site workers of the newly-built 36-kilometer bridge spanning Hangzhou Bay. Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang deliveried their congratulatory letters to celebrate the span's opening and deliveried their greetings to all construction units and workers. Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, declared the opening of Hangzhou Bay Bridge.
The Hangzhou Bay Bridge has been hailed as a "Made-in-China" model in large infrastructure construction that fully uses homegrown technologies and demonstrates the country's architectural expertise.Which links Haiyan, Jiaxing City to Cixi, Ningbo City in Zhejiang Province. With a 36-kilometer bridge spanning Hangzhou Bay, it is the longest cross-sea bridge in the world. Construction of the six-lane bridge, which will allow a speed of 100 km per hour, and be designed to last 100 years, the bridge is a cable-stayed structure built at a cost of 11.8 billion yuan USf1.69 billion. After the open to trafic, it will cut the length of the road trip from Shanghai to Ningbo, a busy port, by 120 km. it is expected to greatly alleviate traffic flow in the booming Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo triangle.
