Sinosteel successfully invested in Hangzhou Gulf Bridge Project, having obtained 25.62% share of Ningbo Hangzhou Gulf Bridge Investment & Development Co., Ltd.
Occupying the first place in span length in cross-sea bridge all over the world with a total length of 36km and an investment of 11.8 billion RMB, Hangzhou Gulf Bridge is one of the major expressways along the seaside crossing the Hangzhou Gulf. The Hangzhou Gulf Bridge Project started in 2003, and is expected to complete and put into operation in 2008. After the completion of this project, it will improve the traffic system of the Yangtze River Delta and shorten the direct railway distance of 120km between southeast Zhejiang and Shanghai, which not only lifts the highly-tense Huhangyong highway pressure but also forms a precious 2-hour economic zone among Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo, strengthening on local economic development and industrial structure revamp upgrade and the economic development in Yangtze River Delta.
The Hangzhou Gulf Bridge is a six drive-way expressway with an expected speed of 100km/h, 100 years of lifetime and connection of structure design with sight design, which are really rare in the world. In construction techniques, the heaviest column of the bridge is over 2,000 tons, the heaviest and longest in the world. In management, the digital controlling mode of the quality and operation in 100 years of constructing and operating period is very advanced.
