Today I was so honored to be invited by Sinosteel Group to attend this special New Year Receiption and to give the speech on behalf of ThyssenKrupp MinEnergy.
First of all, let me make a brief introduction of our company and our business in
ThyssenKrupp is one of the most important and biggest industrial group in Germany and Europe, with history of 146 years and remarkable annual sales upto 40 billion Euros. Our global employees are more than 190,000 across 70 countries. Business of ThyssenKrupp Group in China mainly involves in Steel, Elevator, Material and Services, most of these businesses are in top three position globally. Now ThyssenKrupp Group is ranked as 97 of the world top 500 biggest enterprises.
The relationship between Thyssenkrupp and China can be traced back to Qing Dynasty about 135 years ago. Qing government purchased 318 cannons, 1500 tonnes of rails, booked Chinese first and the only imported steam locomotive from ThyssenKrupp. We can still see the “Krupp Canon” in Xiamen City now. Today the relationship between ThyssenKrupp and China are much more intensively and closer: The world first commercial transrapid train, which was designed and produced by ThyssenKrupp has been in operation in Shanghai already. We have set up two joint venture steel plants in Shanghai and Dalian, two elevator facotories in Zhongshan and Songjiang, and are building a joint venture coking plant in Tangshan right now.
