Sinosteel Tianjin Geological Academy (TGA) was founded in 1972 mainly engaged in mineral prospecting and geosciences researches, scientific and technological researches of mineral product procession and development, test and analysis of the commercially imported and exported mineral products, researches and identification &education and sales of jade and jewelry and golden decorative product test without any damage .The scientific and technological personnel team of TGA is made up reasonably and TGA possesses advanced facilities and has two 1st class certificates for solid mineral resources prospect and ore-dressing and metallurgical tests and experiments, and four 2nd class certificates for geophysical prospecting, geochemical prospecting, remote sensing geological prospecting, rock and ore identification and tests, and has passed ISO9001-2000 quality management system. In 1986 the State Council authorized TGA a qualified academic unit to award master degree. Since then 30 students awarded with master degree have graduated from TGA. And TGA publishes an academic journal of “contributions to geology and mineral resources” which is distributed at home and abroad. Since the foundation TGA has undertaken 500 scientific projects about ore formation regularities, conditions and ore prediction of ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, non-meta1, rare earth element, oil and gas and estimation and evaluation of the mineral resources all over China. All of them are the key projects specified by the state and relevant ministries and provinces. 100 of the 500 win innovation prize and scientific and technological advance prize rewarded by the state and the relevant ministries and provinces. The projects' results are applied to production TGA scientists have written 28 books of their researches and they are published and distributed all over the word. In 1999 TGA changed to scientific enterprise from the former public scientific and technological institution and the whole structure was adjusted to tap the manpower and technical potentiality and widen the fields of technical developments and services. The research and development of super-pure iron ore concentrate technology, the new material of direct reduction of the concentrate, damage-free test of noble metal decorative products and jewelry and refining and recycling of noble metals have made rapid progress. TGA has stood firmly in the market and made successes and won high reputation. TGA is keeping relation with more than 2O countries all over the world for academic and technical exchange and is well known both at home and abroad.
