Liu Andong Attends BRICS Business Forum by Invitation

On August 22 local time, the 2023 BRICS Summit was held in Johannesburg, South Africa. During the summit, the BRICS Business Forum took place under the theme "Making Accelerated Growth and Sustainable Development a Reality". Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech titled "Deepening Unity and Cooperation, Addressing Risks and Challenges, Building a Better World Together" at the closing ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum. Sinosteel Group's Chairman Liu Andong was invited to attend the forum and exchange views with guests from various sectors. Sinosteel's Vice General Manager Liu Peng, Chairman of Sinosteel Overseas Pan Wenliang also participated.

In the exchanges, Liu Andong stated that after nearly four decades of practice and development, internationalization has become embedded in Sinosteel's DNA. Under the guidance of the "dual circulation" strategy and the Belt and Road Initiative, Sinosteel has actively leveraged its professional advantages, deeply cultivated operations in BRICS countries for many years, vigorously developed strategic mineral resources, strived to explore overseas engineering and technology markets, and achieved win-win results with local partners through localized development. The BRICS expansion signifies the release of greater vitality, and Sinosteel will fully implement President Xi Jinping's expectations for the business community and entrepreneurs. Under Baowu's strategic guidance, it will unswervingly promote high-level "going global" and inject more positive energy into promoting common prosperity, openness and inclusiveness, and environmental protection worldwide.

During the BRICS Summit, many Chinese companies played a vanguard role, accelerating cooperation with foreign partners in trade, energy, infrastructure construction and other fields, contributing to steady and far-reaching international cooperation.

On August 22, Sinosteel Group, CGN Energy International Holdings, and the China-Africa Development Fund signed a tripartite strategic cooperation framework agreement witnessed by Liu Andong, CGN Party Secretary and Chairman Yang Changli, and China-Africa Development Fund Chairman Song Lei. Sinosteel owns large mines and smelting production bases, CGN Energy International Holdings has rich experience in clean energy project development, and the China-Africa Development Fund possesses extensive African experience and substantial financing resources. According to the agreement, the three parties will thoroughly implement the new "four revolutions, one cooperation" energy security strategy, leverage their respective strengths, jointly enhance the energy economics and clean energy levels of Sinosteel's projects in South Africa, and help achieve carbon emission reduction goals.

Additionally, at the "China-South Africa Business Trade Matchmaking Meeting and Signing Ceremony" held on the eve of the summit, Sinosteel Deyuan signed a chrome ore sales and purchase MOU with partners on-site, further strengthening its strategic mineral resource security capabilities.
