Xu Siwei Attended the Roundtable for the 15th Anniversary of China-Brazil Business Council

On May 22, the Roundtable for the 15th Anniversary of China-Brazil Business Council, which was sponsored by China Council for International Investment Promotion, was held in Beijing. This conference, taking "Analyzing the Trend of Economic and Trade Relations, Strengthening the Cooperation between Chinese and Brazilian Enterprises, Improving the Investment and Business Environment, and Promoting the Business Opportunities in Key Areas" as the theme, was designated to strengthen the dialog and cooperation between the enterprises of the two countries and promote the sustainable and stable development of the economic and trade relations between China and Brazil. Xu Siwei, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of Sinosteel attended the event and communicated with the guests from all walks of life during the roundtable discussion.

Hamilton Mourao, Vice President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, pointed out in his keynote speech that, the economic growth and sustainable development of Brazil and China needed not only the mutual trust at the governmental level of both countries, but also the confidence and efforts of the business community. Currently, the Brazilian Government is implementing a series of reform measures and looks forward to working with partners to ensure the smooth implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, including ports, airports, railways, roads, power transmission, new energy generation, oil and natural gas, etc. The Brazilian Government hopes to strengthen the strategic partnership with China, and promotes the cooperation in various fields, especially in energy, and hopes that both sides could make joint efforts to push the bilateral partnership to a higher level.
Wang Shouwen, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and Alternate of the international trade negotiations analyzed the policy trends, market opportunities and new challenges of China-Brazil economic and trade cooperation in the new era and put forward relevant suggestion. He stated that, China and Brazil were the two largest developing countries in the eastern and western hemispheres, with strong economic complementariness and great potentials for cooperation. China is ready to strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation with Brazil, continue to tap the potential and expand the two-way investment. He hoped that, both sides could grasp the development opportunities brought by the "Belt and Road", strengthen the strategic link, and promote the cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture and other areas, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

During the roundtable discussion, Xu Siwei introduced the development of cooperation of Sinosteel in Brazil. He stated that, China-Brazil cooperation had entered a new historical period. Brazil had strong demands for mining, metallurgy, energy and other infrastructure. Both China and Brazil are highly complementary and mutually beneficial in many areas, and enjoy broad prospects for cooperation. Sinosteel is mainly engaged in the design, production, sales and technical services of bulk processing equipment for mining and metallurgical customers in Brazil, and also develops iron ore, roll, refractory materials, glass beads and other related trade businesses. Xu Siwei also put forward relevant suggestions on improving the China-Brazil economic and trade policy environment, labor system and tariff measures, etc., and he hoped that, the Chinese and Brazilian enterprises could optimize the cooperation mechanism, enhance the cooperation efficiency and jointly promote the sustained, sound and in-depth development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
