On night of November 1, RIO TINTO held its 40th Anniversary ceremony in Intex Shanghai. At that time, President Huang Tianwen and Vice President Dong Zhixiong also been invited to the ceremony, during they attending the 76th Policy Committee Meeting of Channar Joint Venture.
RIO TINTO Iron Ore is the earliest overseas company started commerce activities in China, since 1973 the first ship of iron ore arrived Shanghai Harbor, there was already 33 years cooperation between RIO TINTO Iron Ore and China Iron & Steel Industry Section, and always maintenance the biggest suppliers in Chinese iron ore.
The Channar Joint Venture was found between Sinosteel Corperation and Hamersley, which is under RIO TINTO Iron Ore, since 1987. Sinosteel is one of the state-owned enterprises that first “Go Global” launching, and also is the earliest cooperation partner with RIO TINTO Iron Ore. With the cooperation increasingly tightness between Sinosteel & RIO TINTO, then Shougang Group and Baosteel Group also found the joint venture one after other.
On the ceremony, President Huang Tianwen as representative of Sinosteel, with representative of Shougang Group and Baosteel Group, carve the birthday cake symbolized friendly cooperation between China & Australia.
