On the afternoon of Jan 13 and the morning of Jan 14, 2006, the Annual Meeting of 2006 Sinosteel Corporation Overseas Business was held in Beijing. President Mr. Huang Tianwen, vice president Mr. Li Zhimin, chief accountant Mr. Liu Andong and heads of functional departments, related specialized companies, companies out of Beijing and overseas companies attended the meeting. On the meeting, they made a summary on the overseas business in 2005, learned and followed the spirit of 2006 annual meeting of the corporation, further carried out Mr. Huang’s requirements raised on Sinosteel Internationalized Operation Meeting held in Dec. 2005 in Hong Kong and research on 2006 work arrangement and long-term developing plan under the guidance of specialized and internationalized operation strategy.President Mr. Huang Tianwen made an important speech on the meeting. Mr. Huang pointed out that there are three points in overseas subsidiaries internationalized operation: resources development, trade promotion and service. Attention should be put on the resource projects in Australia, Gabon and Indonesia; further expanding export and international market share and providing service.
In the new year, president Huang raised five requirements in the specialized and internationalized core businesses.
Afterwards, the head of International Cooperation Dept. made a brief report on the main work in 2005 and 2006 work arrangement; head of President’s Office introduced overseas document management and requirements of applying VIS system; and the head of Information Management Dept. introduced the application requirements of ERP (OA). The heads of overseas companies made reports on their main work in 2005 and discussed on 2006 work arrangement and the current main questions and difficulties. Other heads of specialized companies and those out of Beijing delivered speeches on how to assist overseas companies to implement specialized and internationalized operation strategy.
Finally, vice president Mr. Li Zhimin pointed out, with the cooperation and great support of the functional departments, the overseas companies had made great progress; however, it should be admitted that there is gap between our overseas companies and some big international companies. All the overseas subsidiaries should follow the “Three Points, Five Requirements” raised by Mr. Huang in the meeting, exert the “one stage, three centers” function of Sinosteel International, cooperate with other companies, actively expand entrecote trade, establish Sinosteel brand and publicize Sinosteel influence. Efforts should be made in 2006 to promote trading scale.
