On November 14 to 18, 2014, during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Australia, President Xu Siwei was invited to Australia to participate in bilateral economic and trade forum and signed Framework Agreement on the Second Extension of Channar Joint Venture jointly with Wilson, CEO of Rio Tinto under the witness of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Australian Prime Minister Abbott, and also was invited to participate in the state banquet held by Prime Minister Abbot for President Xi Jinping. When he was in Australia, President Xu and his party investigated the enterprises of Sinosteel Ocean Limited and Sinosteel Australian Company in Australia, in-depth site visited the Blue Hills Mine and encouraged Sinosteel to redouble their efforts in Australia to enhance the core competitiveness and overseas influence of Sinosteel. Deputy General Manager Wu Yongsheng accompanied him to attend the above activities.
On the morning of 17th, President Xu Siwei was invited to attend the Fourth China and Australia Economic and Trade Forum held in Canberra. At the meeting, President Xu made a keynote speech on behalf of Sinosteel, outlining Sinosteel's investment and operating situation in Australia. President Xu said that Sinosteel upheld the development philosophy of 'Both kinds of resources are important, both markets simultaneously are developed', took the lead in implementing overseas mineral resources development strategy and carried out the global allocation of mineral resources so as to significantly increase the level of global operations, enterprise competitiveness and international influence. For more than 20 years, Sinosteel always has been adhering to the principle of mutual benefit and positively fulfilling corporate social responsibility. In the future, Sinosteel will be ready to further strengthen mutual beneficial cooperation with Australia, and make more positive contributions for economic development and social progress of China and Australia. During the forum, President Xu also conducted in-depth conversation with the domestic ministries leaders and relevant business leaders visiting with the delegation.
In the afternoon, President Xu Siwei and CEO Sam Wilson of Rio Tinto signed jointly Framework Agreement on the Second Extension of Channar Joint Venture under the witness of Chinese and Australian leaders.The signing of the agreement is another new milestone in the long-term successful cooperation between the two sides, which will make their partnership to a new height, and play an active role to promote economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
While in Australia, President Xu had been to Sinoteel Ocean Limited, Blue Hills mining area and Sinosteel Australia Company for investigation. On the 14th, President Xu went to the Sinosteel Ocean Limited and listened detailed reports of the responsible persons of Sinosteel Ocean Limited and Sinosteel South Australia Company with respect of the overall situation of middle-western mining project, DSO project operation, mining right exploration and maintenance, infrastructure as well as the progress in South Australia project. On the 15th, President Xu affirmed the contribution made by the project team and hoped that the team would do solid job based on local businesses, and make the development planning to maintain Sinosteel's good image. On the 15th, President Xu and his party came to visit Blue Hills Mine to inspect the work, and field studied operations of the DSO mining project. President Xu spoke highly of the staff's dedication spirit under the harsh conditions of field operations, and encouraged employees to continue the struggle and to make a greater contribution for the company. On the 16th, President Xu visited Sinosteel Australia Company and listened to the responsible person's work reports of the Company on Channar mining project, business development, service and brand building.President Xu pointed out that in the next stage, we should regard another extension of Channar as a top priority, and actively try to develop collaborative business, not only to do service for the group's companies, but also to strive to serve more Chinese enterprises so as to achieve common development.
