On May 29, Sinosteel Corporation signed the cooperation agreement to co-promote the development of Fenglin Biomedical Center with Shanghai Xuhui Government and Fudan University in Jianguo Hotel Shanghai.
Hosted by vice governor of Xuhui District Mr. Sun Rongqian, the signing ceremony was attended by Sinosteel president Mr. Huang Tianwen, Xuhui District secretary Mr. Mao Minggui and Fudan University secretary Mr. Qin Shaode, who also delivered speeches. On the signing ceremony, Sinosteel vice president Mr. Jiang Hong, Xuhui vice governor Mr. Sun Feizhong and Fudan vice president Mr. Yang Yuliang signed the bilateral strategic cooperation agreement and trilateral strategic cooperation agreement; on behalf of enterprise, local government and university, Sinosteel Scie-tech GM Mr. Wang Weigang, Xuhui State-Owned Assets Operating Company Vice GM Mr. Zhang Gongda and Fudan vice president Mr. Yang Yuliang signed Fenglin Biotech Center Share Holding Co., Ltd. initiator agreement.
Fenglin Biomedical Centre (FMC) is located in Xuhui district of Shanghai, China. Among this region, it has abundant resource of biological research, medical education and service, with convenient transportation, advanced commerce and abundant information supply. FMC’s total area is 5.46 square kilometers. The main functions of FMC is to concentrate the R&D of life science, medical care service, life science and medical education and training, international academic exchange and medical business exhibitions, which all have significant impact. The strategy target focuses on building a biomedical center with the integration of related industries such as business exhibition, strong service function, favorable public environment, common sense of health, and stressing two key industries—“R&D of life science” and “medical care service”, in conformity with the global development trend. The purpose of FMC is to compete with the biological medicine industry on a world level, and assume the leadership of this field in China and the Asia-Pacific Region.
The establishment of the strategic cooperation partnership among Sinosteel, Shanghai Xuhui Government and Fudan University is good for three sides to effectively integrate the resources of government, university and enterprise, to fully exert each advantages in policy orientation, regional location, scientific research, medical service, marketing and talent & capital and to establish a real operation mode of “effectively integrating and developing market with scientific research, realizing integration of R&D and scientific & technological business opportunity” with “government support, university dependence, market mechanism and enterprise operation”, so as to promote the establishment of nationally and internationally advanced high-tech center and to lay solid foundation for the trilateral benefits.
As one major initiator of the biomedical center, Sinosteel will co-develop and sincerely cooperate with Xuhui District and Fudan University to establish a new technical innovation system with advantageous resources, scientific result transferring, social capital participation and intensified target industries, market orientation and integrated with industry, study and research so as to contribute more to Shanghai Xuhui District local economic prosperity, social stability and the rapid development of our biomedical industry.
Leaders of Sinosteel functional departments, specialized companies, Sinosteel Shanghai subsidiaries and heads of Xuhui Government and Fundan University, altogether over 80 people attended the signing ceremony.
