On the morning of February 20, Xu Siwei, Party Secretary of Sinosteel Corporation and General Manager of Sinosteel Corporation limited, met with Rajat Kohli, head of Global Mining & Metals, Standard Bankof South Africa, and his entourage, in Sinosteel’s headquarters. They discussed the matters concerning strengthening cooperation in Sinosteel’s overseas business. Liu Andong, member Party Committee of Sinosteel, Vice General Manager and Chief Accountant of Sinosteel Corporation, was also present at the meeting.
Xu introduced to the guests the overseas resources development of Sinosteel and its business development and layout in Africa. He said Africa is so abundant in mineral resources that it has become one of the major regions that Sinosteel has focused on in its overseas resources development. He hoped that both sides could promote communication to explore opportunities for further cooperation and expand cooperation areas.
Liu gave a brief introduction on the operations of Sinosteel projects in Africa and expected both sides to enhance exchanges and to actively seek opportunities for cooperation in various areas.
Rajat Kohli said Standard Bank is the largest bank in South Africa and mining and mineral resources development constitutes an important part in its business. Standard Bank has attached great importance to its development in the Chinese market and has had formed good cooperation ties with Sinosteel. It would like to give play to its advantages to continue its support for Sinosteel’s business development in Africa with the aim of mutual benefit for both sides.
