On October 11, 2006, Sino-India Economic and Trade Co-operation Seminar was held inIntercontinental Hotel in New Delhi, which was sponsored by China Sinosteel Corporation, China Chamber of Commerce of Metals Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters, and jointly running by the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in India and Confederation of Indian Industry. The Ambassador of People’s Republic of China in India, Minister Das of India Ministry of Steel, India Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India Commerce Center, and all leader from the India Government, many iron and steel, metallurgy, metals minerals&chemicals companies all from China, India and the world attended the Seminar.
This Seminar welcome address was given by Chairman Chen Haoran from China Chamber of Commerce of Electricity Importers & Exporters, Presedent Huang Tianwen gave the theme address. In the address President Huang said, the Chinese industry as well as the Government attaches great importance to developing trade and economic cooperation relationship with India and strongly encourages Chinese enterprises to go global and seek opportunities of cooperation and development and explore market in our friendly neighboring countries including India. The Indian Government also renders strong support to bilateral cooperation between India and China. During the commerce of both countries, there is close to 60% quotient of iron & steel, ores and metals minerals & chemicals. The two countries have designated the year 2006 as the “Year of India-China friendship”. This Seminar is organized by CCCMC and Sinosteel Corporation with active support extended by The Embassy of People’s Republic of China in India and Confederation of Indian Industry. This Seminar is intended to address the key issues and problems in trade between the two nations and also come with relevant solutions, which have quite importance practical significance.
President Huang stressed, Sinosteel corporation is one of the leading government owned companies in the metallurgical raw materials development and equipment manufacturing, through its wholly-owned Indian subsidiary opened in India, Sinosteel are ready to extend full support and cooperation to the Indian industry in the areas of our capability. China and India should further consolidate and expand the all-round communion and cooperation, and both can also arrive at possible solutions and identify the areas to be addressed by the Government of both the nations.
The Ambassador Sun Yuxi of People’s Republic of China in India also gave a brilliant speech on the Seminar. Firstly, he expressed celebration to hold the Seminar, and thank the sponsors China Sinosteel Corporation, and China Chamber of Commerce of Metals Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters, for the effort and success they made. Ambassador Sun indicated, the Chinese and Indian have constitute to develop a strategic partnership oriented towards peace and prosperity, marking a new stage of the relationship between the two countries which is bestowed with significant opportunities for development. In the past five years, the commerce of both side was extremely increased, and the aim of commerce quotient confirmed by both government going achieved forward. China Nationality Chairman Hu Jintao will visit India in November, that make know of the two countries going to have new opportunity of cooperation development. He wish the both section going to make due contributions to the economic prosperity and social progress of the two countries with friends from all walks of life.
