Co-hosted by China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) and Federation of India Mineral Industries (FIMI), and supported by Sinosteel Corporation and Baosteel Hong Kong Trading Company Ltd., China-India Iron Ore Summit 2006 was held between April 12 and 14 in Qingdao Haitian Hotel. Senior heads from many iron and steel companies and iron ore trading companies both from China and India attended the summit. Sinosteel vice president Dong Zhixiong led a delegation attended the meeting and delivered a theme speech. In his speech, vice president Dong deeply explained supply & demand situation of China iron ore market, the current China-Indian iron ore trade situation, the cooperating prospect, and Sinosteel’s position, influence and efforts in promoting China-India iron ore trade. Vice president Dong said, as the chairman of CCCMC Iron Ore Branch, Sinosteel has always been actively participated in the promotion of the coordination and management of the Iron Ore Branch and devoted much effort to the management of spot market. Utilizing its own market influence, Sinosteel is dedicated to establish cooperative partnership with Indian powerful suppliers and discussed on the spot market long-term price establishing mechanism, so as to enroll the Indian market into the benchmark price market. Sinosteel would like to further consolidate and expand the all-round cooperation in iron ore, continue to provide steel production technology and equipment for India, co-develop iron ore resources and invest in improving infrastructure.
During the summit, president Dong also talked with GM of Hebei Wenfeng Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Mr. Shi Fenghai and GM of MMTC A. Sondhi on long-term cooperation.
Sinosteel Trading Company and Sinosteel India Private Ltd. fully utilized this opportunity to extensively communicated with the Indian miners and held discussions with nearly 10 companies, such as MSPL Limited, Bandekar Brothers Pvt. Ltd. and Bellary Iron Ores Pvt. Ltd.
