Sinosteel Shanghai Company is formerly Shanghai institution of Ministry of Heavy Industry established in 1951. It was reformed into the East China institution of Ministry of Metallurgical Industry in 1977. Along with the restructuring of the ministry, it was reformed into China Iron Steel Huadong Corporation in 1990. Once again, under the overall new planning and rearrangement of Sinosteel Corporation, China Iron Steel Huadong Corporation, Shanghai metallurgical raw materials company and Shanghai Pu Ye industry and trade company were merged and regrouped into a new China Iron Steel Huadong Corporation in April, 2002. Finally the company was renamed as Sinosteel Shanghai Company under the decision of Sinosteel Corporation in November, 2004, and it has currently become one of the core subsidiary companies of Sinosteel Corporation under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the state council.
